Future Desmos Fellows here!

After reading about this opportunity for many years, I finally had the opportunity to apply to become a Desmos Fellows, and I just got the invitation email last week! I am so excited to travel to Colorado and meet the Desmos team and 29 other teachers who are passionate about math and their job. I believe this will be the 7th group of Desmos Fellows so far.

I saw the invitation to apply to become a Desmos Fellows in my email and on the Desmos Teachers Facebook page:

The application process was relatively in-depth. It involved answering open-ended questions related to teaching philosophy, specifically related to technology, leadership and conference experience, Desmos experience, and an explanation of why I want to become a Desmos Fellow. The application asked us to upload a Desmos activity we made entirely on our own. It also asked us to upload a video explaining which Desmos feature was our favorite, why it was our favorite, and why someone else should incorporate it in their classroom. The application process took me a few days since I needed time to process all the questions, think about my honest answers, and create the video.

After applying, I got this email:

Waiting to hear back on whether I was selected was tough! It took about six weeks to finally get this in my inbox!

I rsvp’d to let Desmos know that I was planning on going to their 2-day professional development workshop in Colorado. They are providing hotel lodging and food; we provide the transportation.

I will keep a running update in June on the amazing things we do!
